Summer Skin Care and Treatments

Updated: Jun 3

The spa environment slows down in the summer months for many reasons, namely, that big, beautiful sun that is so prominent!  With that hot summer sun, we feel like we're on a continuous vacation, going to the beach or pool nearly every day. When we think of summer face treatments, we don't want anything to be too damaging, with long healing times. We recommend saving the longer healing treatments for September, but now is the time to invest in great skin care and sun screen for the summer! There are also a couple of fabulous laser treatments that are quick-healing and give your skin a radiant glow for that special occasion.

You will find all your needs at Signature Image with our NOON and Skin Medica products!

1. Use a Lightweight, Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen (SPF 30+)

  • Apply every morning and reapply every 2 hours if you're outside.

  • Look for oil-free or gel-based formulas for less greasiness.

  • Tinted mineral sunscreens can double as light makeup and offer physical protection.

2. Switch to a Gentle Cleanser

  • Use a foaming or gel cleanser to remove sweat, oil, and sunscreen buildup.

  • Avoid overly harsh exfoliants that can strip your skin, especially if you're sun-exposed.

3. Use a Hydrating but Lightweight Moisturizer

  • Go for gel-cream or water-based moisturizers (e.g., hyaluronic acid-based).

  • Avoid heavy creams unless you have dry skin.

4. Incorporate Antioxidants (like Vitamin C)

  • Vitamin C serums help protect against sun damage and brighten the skin.

  • Apply in the morning under sunscreen for extra UV defense.

5. Blotting Papers or Mattifying Products

  • Useful for controlling excess oil without disrupting makeup.

  • Clay masks once or twice a week can also help keep oil in check.

6. Stay Hydrated

  • Drink plenty of water and consider using a hydrating facial mist throughout the day.

7. Don’t Skip Nighttime Care

  • Cleanse thoroughly at night to remove all sunscreen and sweat.

  • Use lightweight serums with niacinamide or retinol alternative to repair and renew.

8. Exfoliate Wisely

  • 1–2 times a week max, using gentle chemical exfoliants (like lactic or mandelic acid) instead of harsh scrubs.

9. Protect Lips and Eyes

  • Use SPF lip balms and wear sunglasses to prevent sun-related wrinkles.

10. Avoid Heavy Makeup

  • Try tinted moisturizers or mineral powders for a breathable finish.

11. Be sure to get your monthly facial for extra hydration

  • The sun is dehydrating.

  • Try a facial that you haven't experienced before.

  • Try a BACK FACIAL - for congestion and exfoliation

12. Microneedling for collagen induction therapy and add exosomes

  • A quick heal time of just 1 day.

  • In one week, your skin will be glowing.

  • Safe for all skin types.

  • Exosomes will enhance your results.

13. Try the MOVEOGLO Skin Revitalization for collagen induction therapy

  • A pain-free, zero-down-time procedure that targets water in the skin.

  • Targeting water creates microinjury that stimulates collagen production, replenishing lost collagen and improving the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Skin is left looking tighter and more plump.

14. Try the Body Sculpt!

  • Builds muscle and burns fat. It delivers high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) pulses into the muscle tissue, creating supramaximal muscle contractions that activate more muscle fibers than you can achieve through exercise alone.

  • This nonsurgical treatment can tighten, tone, and strengthen the large muscle groups of the abdomen and buttocks as well as of smaller body areas, including the upper arms, thighs, and calves. The result is increased muscle definition and reduced circumference.
